Are you having MS Exchange Server 2007 in your organization that is giving problems lately? Are you facing problems while mounting the public folder database? It could be possible because of not having sufficient privileges to mount the database. In such cases, you should check the specific options to obtain appropriate user rights. If the issue is not resolved that means the EDB (Exchange Database) file is corrupted, which is disabling you to mount it. In such cases, you should use a third-party MS Exchange repair software to perform Exchange Server repair.

Consider a scenario wherein you are using MS Exchange Server 2007. In this, you are trying to mount the public folder database but you are unable to do so. An error message is displayed in this regard, which is:

“Failed to mount database ‘Mailbox Database’

Also, when you try to log on to the system it freezes at the ‘Applying computer settings’ screen.

Cause:

There could be the following causes for this erroneous situation:

1.The DomainName\Exchange Servers group does not have the Manage auditing and security log user rights.
2.The EDB database file is corrupted.

Resolution:

To resolve this situation, you can perform either of the following methods:
1. Run Setup /PrepareAD: You should run the Setup /PrepareAD command using the Exchange Server CD to restore the Exchange Server configuration in the Active Directory.
2. Add the Exchange Servers group to the “Manage auditing and security log” policy: You should add the Exchange Servers group to the aforementioned policy. After this, you should restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service. The problem would be solved now.

However, if you still are facing the similar errors while mounting the public folder database then you should use a third-party Exchange repair software to repair the EDB database. Such Exchange repair tools are extremely safe to use that do not overwrite the existing EDB files while scanning it.
